Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known by her stage name of Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer born in Washington, D.C., who was the first female to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. On October 21, 2016, she released Pho, her first EP on the label Dreamville Records. It was at this point that she first gained notoriety. Shea Butter Baby released her debut studio album on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox has been uploading her music since 2012, with the release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. The singer continued uploading her songs online throughout 2014 and released her own single Bound. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes in the song Sweat It Out. J. Cole asked her to join him in collaboration for Rihanna's reference. Then, later in the calendar, her songs was circulating throughout Dreamville. The announcement that she would sign with Dreamville Records was made on December 8th. Backseat, a track she sang alongside Cozz in the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. In October 21, 2016, she dropped her debut EP called Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing as part of her own 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as the opening artist. in 2018, the singer-songwriter appeared on two tracks featuring EarthGang On Nothing but the Best, and Bas, on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on July 16, 2018. A music video was later released in September. On the 9th of November 2018 she dropped two additional singles, titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). In November, 13 she dropped two more singles entitled No One or Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby later made an appearance in the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She released this single in order to announce her debut album Creed II on 26 February 2019. In February the music video for this track was launched. The track has garnered over 3 million YouTube views within a week. In December of 2018, she was performing as a support act on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in conjunction with 6LACK.
